Dorothy Mary Crowfoot

Dorothy Mary Crowfoot was a chemist from Britain who studied chemistry. She won the Nobel Prize for chemistry for determining the structure of biochemical compounds used to control pernicious anemia. She also went to Oxford. In 1933 she and J. D. Bernal made the first X-ray photograph of a protein. She studied at Cambridge too. She was president 1977–78 of the British Association for the Advancement of Science which is a big deal.

She is a big deal in the chemistry world. She is my hero I think I would like to be like her in the future. She made many contributions in the chemistry world. I also picked her because she won the Nobel Prize for chemistry. She learned also how to X-ray Protein which a big deal was. Finally I picked her because I have always wanted to go to Oxford.

When I think of science the first person that comes to mind is Ben Fraklin. I admire this person because he is on the 100 dollar bill. He is also started electricity. That invention of electricity helped everyone in the society. Ben Fraklin is one of the most popular scientist because of that.

1.            Why is this exhibit a good choice for placement in your e-portfolio?
This was a good choice for my e-portfolio because i got to find the inner artist in my self. I noticed by doing this project that I am an artist. I would usually do a project like this and just write the words on there, but I went out of my way to type it and glue the words down.
2.      What did you find most interesting about this exhibit activity and why?
The most interesting part of the project was learning about gold. I learned about the different melting points, and also I learned about the density of gold which is19.32.
3.      In what way(s) did you find this exhibit a challenge to complete?
There were many challenges in this project. I had a challenge when it came down to keeping stuff on the board. I had many things fall off the day of that i had to glue on really fast.
4.      If you were to do this activity again what changes would you make and why?
If I did this project again I would try to make it more creative. I think I probable put more colors in it. I also don't think I would right as much as I did.
5.      What change(s) in attitude or behavior helped you to meet the challenge?
Through the project my attitude was changed. At first I put it off then I noticed i needed to do it. I finished the project three days before so i would not have to cram it in. In the long run it payed off for me because I didn't have to stay up all night the day before.
6.      What grade would you give yourself for these reflections, from “1” to “4”, where “4” is the best? (Refer to the E-Portfolio Reflection Rubric.)Give specific evidence explaining why you gave yourself that grade.
I would probably give myself a 3.5 because my reflections were not the best, but were very thoughtful and thorough. I think i should get this grade because i put a lot of hard work in this. Also I think you could see all the time i put in to this.
